Sacraments

First Penance

The sacrament of First Penance is ministered to students in Second Grade, typically in the second semester, before they make their First Holy Communion. Preparation for this sacrament takes place over time during the period of religious instruction.

First Holy Communion

Students celebrate the sacrament of First Holy Communion while in Second Grade, typically during the Easter season and after having received the sacrament of First Penance. First Communion celebrations routinely take place on announced Saturdays. Like the sacrament of First Penance, preparation for this sacrament takes place over time during the period of religious instruction.

Confirmation

The sacrament of Confirmation, which completes reception of Christian Initiation, is conferred on students during their Eighth Grade year, typically during the fall semester. This sacrament is habitually administered by a bishop. Like the sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion, preparation for this sacrament takes place over time during the period of religious instruction. Eighth grade students preparing to receive this sacrament are required to attend a retreat coordinated by the school.
